Growsel Farmers' Meet-up

The date was the 19th of April, and when it eventually came, the ecstatic atmosphere set the tone for what turned out to be a banquet of unlimited opportunities, as we treated farmers from the Idi-Ope area of Oyo town, who came together under the umbrella of the Joint Farmers Community Initiative Association, to a feel of the Growsel Farmers’ Meet-Up. The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank group, was also there to add pep to the event, with an exhibition and demonstration of an assortment of solar-powered lamps and home systems, which the farmers can access through the Growsel Kindness channel.

Growsel Farmers' Meet-up

Fueled by its passion to change lives and create more opportunities for smallholder farmers in local communities, On the 20th day of April 2018, Growsel’s empowerment train made a stop at Ifo, Ogun State, a community with about 82,000 sq km land area that is predominantly cultivated by Cassava farmers and home to ‘Garri Ifo’, a cassava cereal variant, well-known in South-Western Nigeria. The event was the Ogun Farmers’ Meet-Up.

Growsel Farmers' Meet-up

The sleepy town of Epe came alive on Friday the 13th day of April 2018, as Growsel, in pursuit of it’s mandate to change lives and build opportunities, visited the town to interface with over sixty farmers in the community, at the Epe Farmers’ Meet-Up, held in partnership with Eweko Concepts, an agribusiness venture. The farmers had glee and excitement written all over their faces, as they awaited their August visitors, and duly expressed this in the warm way they ushered Growsel representatives into the community hall on arrival.

Growsel Trustee Programme

A Growsel Trustee’s main task and mandate is to help Growsel identify, screen and endorse credible smallholder farmers for farm loans and inputs. They will process such applications and requests and act as intermediaries between Growsel and the smallholder farmers, ensuring that the smallholder farmers keep their part of the bargain by embracing global best practices, repaying the farm loans and paying the Return on Support (RoS).

Creating Access to Market

Zowasel launches its new Online Grain Marketplace, designed to solve the problems of farm produce wastage and create access to market for smallholder farmers by connecting them to buyers from around the world. Zowasel, previously known as an online discount and deal site, is now a platform where farmers can list their crops for the opportunity to meet local and international buyers.
